Loosening the wheel lug nuts, you should raise the front or rear of the vehicle and support it securely on jackstands. Consequently, block the opposite set of wheels to prevent rolling. After that, remove the wheels. Disconnecting from the differential pinion flange, secure it out of way. Hand-rotate the pinion and use a torque wrench to measure required torque for rotation. Having marked position of the pinion flange to shaft and counted number of exposed threads. It may necessary to use special tool or chain wrench to immobilize flange and remove pinion nut. If necessary, withdraw the flange with two-jaw puller. Removing old seal, discard it; Then apply lubricate lips of new seal and fill space between lips with wheel bearing grease; After that tap new seal into position using a seal installation tool or large socket; Install pinion flange aligning marks made earlier; Apply RTV sealant to ends of splines visible in center of flange; Install washer and new pinion nut tighting until the recorded number of threads are exposed; Finally measure torque required to rotate pinion and tighten nut in small increments till it matches recorded figure; Reinstall all components, tightening all fasteners to their specified torque values.
