  A: Removing starts with removing battery negative cable. For 5.7 L (LS1/LS6) engines, loosen the intake manifold. Take off the grommets from the valley cover, lift them up and also unplug the electrical connectors from knock sensors. Loosen the knock sensor(s). For 6.0L (LS2), 6.2L (LS3/LS9) and 7.0L (LS7), drive the vehicle up and fix it on solid jackstands. Remove the engine room under-cover. Left end of block in front of oil filter housing is where Bank 1 knock sensor lies while Bank 2 is located at right end of block in front of starter valve. It is necessary to remove exhaust manifold here. Get rid of upstream Catalytic Converter downpipe.
