Chevrolet El Camino Antenna

The Chevrolet El Camino Antenna enables the coupe utility to receive clear radio signals to enjoy music and traffic reports on every trip. Built as a slender array of metal conductors wired to the dash receiver, the Antenna converts invisible radio waves in the air to tiny electrical currents, which the radio is able to amplify into sound. Most El Camino models relied on an omnidirectional stainless-steel mast rising from the fender, which was a logical choice because this Antenna design picks up signals equally well from all directions while the vehicle is in motion. Earlier Chevrolet editions had a basic manually raised whip, although some later El Camino models would have a power-retractable Antenna that would come down to protect the unit when ignition was turned off, reducing wind noise and discouraging damage. Some late runs did experiment with a windshield-embedded Antenna film to hide the hardware completely but still deliver reception, although the concealed design might lose a little range compared with the taller mast. Regardless of the style, each Antenna is modest in size but precisely tuned to broadcast wavelengths so that every Chevrolet driver hears the favorite stations with no crackle.

Each OEM Chevrolet El Camino Antenna we offer is competitively priced and comes with the assurance of the manufacturer's warranty for the part. Furthermore, we guarantee the speedy delivery of your orders right to your doorstep. Our hassle-free return policy is also in place for your peace of mind.

Chevrolet El Camino Antenna Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to remove and install Antenna on Chevrolet El Camino?
    A:
Lower the antenna mast fully by turning off the radio or ignition key switch. If the unit has failed with the antenna mast in the 'up' position, it may be advisable to cut off the mast portion to make replacement easier. Disconnect the negative battery cable. Access to the power antenna motor is through the inner fender panel; raise the vehicle and remove the front tire for better access if necessary. Remove the fender skirt attaching screws and pull down on the rear edge of the skirt, using a piece of 2x4-inch lumber as a spacer to keep the skirt pulled away while working. Remove the escutcheon nut at the fender, disconnect the electrical leads, and remove the antenna and motor assembly through the fender skirt opening. When installing a new unit, ensure that the mast is fully retracted and the lower bracket attachment is secured by the fender skirt attaching screw.
