To remove the fuel tank, start by relieving the fuel system pressure and disconnecting the negative battery terminal. Then, raise the vehicle and secure it on jackstands. If applicable, remove the fuel tank shield. Loosen the hose clamps for the fuel filler neck hose and disconnect the hose from the filler neck pipe. If there is still fuel in the tank, siphon it out using a siphoning kit. Support the fuel tank with a transmission jack or floor jack, making sure to protect the tank with a piece of wood. Remove the fuel tank retaining strap bolts and swing the straps down or remove them if necessary. Lower the fuel tank enough to disconnect the electrical connectors and fuel line quick-connect fittings from the
Fuel Pump/fuel level sending unit. Finally, lower the fuel tank to the floor and disconnect the EVAP line fitting. To install the fuel tank, simply reverse the removal process.
