Chevrolet Express Vacuum Pump

Chevrolet Express Vacuum Pump delivers the vacuum that diesel powered vans need for safe braking and smooth HVAC operation. This Vacuum Pump replaces the manifold vacuum gasoline engines naturally create, feeding the power brake booster and the small actuators that shift air doors inside the dash. In earlier model years a diaphragm style Vacuum Pump, driven off the camshaft, dominated, using a reciprocating membrane to pull air out of the system. Later vans adopted a compact rotary vane Vacuum Pump mounted at the end of the cam, whose spinning blades sweep chambers to produce steady negative pressure while sharing engine oil for cooling. Regardless of style, the Vacuum Pump must hold roughly eight to twelve psi of pressure differential, or drivers may notice a hard pedal and lazy climate controls. Across decades, Chevrolet paired the pump design with the stout V8 and diesel powerplants found in the Express line. Modern Express vans with direct injection still rely on the dedicated Chevrolet unit because their throttleless diesel engines cannot generate vacuum on their own.

Each OEM Chevrolet Express Vacuum Pump we offer is competitively priced and comes with the assurance of the manufacturer's warranty for the part. Furthermore, we guarantee the speedy delivery of your orders right to your doorstep. Our hassle-free return policy is also in place for your peace of mind.

  • Q: How to remove the vacuum pump on Chevrolet Express?
    A:
Disconnect the negative battery terminal. Remove the drive belts and vacuum pump belt. Disconnect the vacuum line quick-connect fitting at the side of the vacuum pump. Remove the bolts securing the vacuum pump to the engine block. Remove the vacuum pump and the gasket. Installation is the reverse of removal. Install the mounting bolts finger tight, then tighten them to the proper torque specifications.
