Chevrolet HHR Air Filter Parts Questions & Answers

  • Q: How to remove and replace the air filter in a Chevrolet Cobalt,HHR and Saturn ION?
A: Never drive without the air filter to avoid engine damage or fire. To remove the air filter on 2.2L and 2.4L engines (Cobalt/GS and ION models), loosen the inlet tube clamp, release the housing clips, and separate the cover to remove the filter. For 2.2L and 2.4L engines (HHR models), remove the engine cover, loosen the intake duct clamp, disconnect the MAF sensor, and remove the filter housing. Place it upside down, remove the fasteners, separate the halves, and remove the filter. For 2.0L turbo engines, unfasten the clips or screws, separate the cover, and remove the filter. Inspect the filter and replace if dirty. Clean the housing with compressed air. Install the new filter and reassemble the housing.
