Q: How to remove and install the rear brake shoe lining assembly and parking brake cable bracket?
A: The first thing you should do is to remove the wheel lug nuts, after that raise the rear of the vehicle and support it securely on jack stands. If you want to avoid the vehicle from rolling away then block the front wheels and release the parking brake. Afterwards, remove rear wheels. After removing a brake caliper and Brake Disc, we can proceed with loosening of parking brake cable at equalizer by holding cable end with small wrench while moving adjustment nut towards equalizer to loosen cable. After that detach brake cable and spring from actuator lever then separate cable from bracket. When removing a rear wheel hub and bearing mounting bolts, you need to keep in mind that during removal of an automotive wheel bearing assembly together with its backing plate, parking brake shoes as well as related components are removed as one unit. Then remove two bolts which hold parking brake cable bracket and actuator to backing plate in order to take off a cable bracket from the backing plate. Later turn adjuster wheel on actuator until it will be separated by adjusting it from shoe lining assembly. Take off minor actuator lever along with seal, following which remove complete actuator from backing plate. In this case, slide away shoe lining assembly off clip on backing plate for taking off shoe lining assembly through around wheel bearing & hub itself. The last sentence describes how brake assembly is removed while encircling hub and bearing uniting them both but using "removes" instead of "is removed." To install reverse of removal noting: Tighten torque for parking brake cable bracket mounting bolts; tightness must be controlled on torque for wheel bearing/hub assemblies mounting bolts, as well as caliper mounting/mounting bracket bolts; torque has also been mentioned in relation to tightening of lug nuts on wheels. Finally adjust parking brakes before pressing down or releasing pedal several times for confirming whether or not such is working properly.
