- Q: How to remove and install a clutch release bearing on Chevrolet K1500?A:The removal begins with disconnecting the negative cable from the battery and then removing the transmission. In case it is a heavy-duty type, the bellhousing should be taken off. The clutch release lever is detached from the ball stud on 1995 and earlier models and then this bearing is removed from the lever. On 1996 and later models, one removes the clutch release cylinder which leads to detachment of the release bearing from it. The inspection process involves holding the center of this bearing and rotating its outer part while applying pressure. If does not turn smoothly or is noisy, replace it with a new one.
