To remove the power steering system, start by disconnecting the cable from the negative terminal of the battery. Then, remove the subframe and the stabilizer bar from the subframe. Next, remove the rack and pinion mounting bolts and detach the rack and pinion from the subframe. To install the power steering system, follow the reverse of the removal steps. Additionally, program the electronic power steering control module using the appropriate scanner at a dealership or repair facility. For the power steering assist motor and control module, remove the rack and pinion if not already done. Disconnect the electrical connector from the motor and remove the motor-to-rack and pinion mounting bolts. Detach the motor from the rack and pinion. To install, follow the reverse of the removal procedure, ensuring to install a new drive coupling and O-ring and lubricating the O-ring with multi-purpose grease. Install new mounting bolts and tighten them to the proper torque specifications. Finally, install the rack and pinion and transfer the key cycle count from the old steering gear control module to the new one.
