Chevrolet Metro Headlight Switch

The Chevrolet Metro Headlight Switch allows drivers to effectively control the car's headlights at night for better visibility. The Headlight Switch places the lighting circuit at the driver's fingertips for simple on-off operation. In addition, it lets the driver cycle the low-beam and high-beam settings according to changing road conditions. It mounts conveniently close to the steering column. A simple pull or twist of the compact Headlight Switch sends an electrical signal that tells the bulbs to brighten for more visibility or to dim when distracting other drivers. That is to say, this Headlight Switch controls beam intensity depending on use for city streets or dark highways. Over the duration of the compact Chevrolet hatchback and sedan's life cycle, designers kept the interface familiar, so whether it's a pull knob on early Metro dashboards or a stalk-integrated rocker on later cars, both types are programmed on the same wiring logic and share a consolidated Headlight Switch to translate driver input into light output. Chevrolet did not introduce alternate versions like adaptive or automatic settings to the original equipment range. As such, every Metro continues with the simple, reliable Headlight Switch. In fact, Chevrolet retained a consistent three-wire schematic so that the replacements plug in without fuss.

Each OEM Chevrolet Metro Headlight Switch we offer is competitively priced and comes with the assurance of the manufacturer's warranty for the part. Furthermore, we guarantee the speedy delivery of your orders right to your doorstep. Our hassle-free return policy is also in place for your peace of mind.

Chevrolet Metro Headlight Switch Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to Check and Replace Dashboard Headlight Switch and Wiper Switch on Chevrolet Metro?
    A:
Some models are equipped with an air bag or Supplemental Inflatable Restraint (SIR) system, which must be disarmed before working near its components. Begin by disconnecting the negative cable at the battery. For models with headlight and wiper/washer switches located in the instrument cluster bezel, remove the bezel and unplug the electrical connectors. After removing the screws, separate the switches from the cluster and use an ohmmeter to check continuity between the terminals; if continuity is not as expected, replace the switch. To access the dash light rheostat, pull off the knob, remove the retaining nut and trim plate, then push the rheostat back through the opening to remove it. Check the operation of the rheostat with a test lamp, which should brighten when the knob is turned clockwise and dim when turned counterclockwise; if it does not function correctly, replace it. For the rear defogger switch, reach behind the dashboard to unplug the electrical connector, squeeze the clips on the sides, and push the switch out. Use an ohmmeter to check continuity between the terminals. For the rear wiper/washer switch, similarly reach behind the dashboard, unplug the connector, squeeze the clips, and remove the switch by pushing it out; check continuity with an ohmmeter and replace if necessary.
