Some are equipped with an air bag or Supplemental Inflatable Restraint (SIR) system and live air bag or SIR system parts require special precautions when servicing the system as it may disarm. The turn signal/hazard flasher is a small rectangular canister which can be found through the wiring harness behind the
Fuse block at the dash. Regular functioning involves operation accompanied by an audible click; if a vehicle's turn signals are dead on a particular side and the flasher is silent, a turn signal bulb is probably at fault. If the two turn signals do not blink, it is upon the mechanic to identify whether it has a bad fuse, bad flasher, bad switch or bad connection. Every now and then, a quick look into the fuse box ensures that there is a blown turn signal fuse but before replacing it, it is prudent to check the wiring for the short. To remove the flasher, one needs to pull it out of the wiring harness and in order to put the new one, one needs to ensure that the new unit is of the same type as the old one, this can be done by comparing the wiring diagrams before fixing it in the reverse manner.
