Chevrolet Monte Carlo Tie Rod End Parts Questions & Answers

    • Q: How to remove and install a tie-rod end?
A: Begin by loosening your hub nuts and raising the front of your vehicle on jackstands in order to remove the tie rod end. Support the vehicle securely and take off wheel. Also, loosen the tie rod end jam nut as well as mark relationship of tie rod ends with thread of threaded tie-rod; it will help in restoring the toe-in setting during reassembly. Employ a puller to release a ball stud from a knuckle steering arm then remove a tie-rod end from knuckle steering arm. Take out screw connecting the tie-rod end with the tie-rod itself. In respect to installing a new one, just thread this onto marked position of the old one then get this tightened so that also insert its ball stud into steering knuckle arm. Nut should be installed on ball stud and torqued properly. Thereafter, tighten securely jam nut and install wheel. Lower vehicle without forgetting about proper torque specifications for tightening lug nuts. Finally ensure you have checked or adjusted front-end alignment if necessary.
