Before getting to the rear cables, the lug nuts of the wheel need to be loosened, the rear of the car has to be lifted and supported by jacks in order to take out the wheel. After that, loosen the equalizer nut to detach some cables that associate the cable to be replaced with the equalizer. Take out the brake drum from the axle flange and in case of any problem, refer to the respective instructions. Next, loosen the
Brake Shoe assembly enough for releasing the cable terminus from the parking brake lever pushing back on the return spring and move the cable out of slot in the lever. Force the tangs on to the cable housing retainer to force the housing and cable through the backing plate. To install backward, follow the removal process and place the cable to gain the necessary position. To access the front cable, front the vehicle up, and secure on jackstands and slacken the equalizer assembly for the same purpose. Remove the front cable from the cable joiner at the equalizer and the front pedal assembly. Disconnect the cable from the routing clips and pass the cable and grommet through the firewall. Finally to install the cable, the process is exactly the opposite of the above removal and the cable is fitted in the correct manner.
