If the rubber mounts have hardened, cracked or separated from the metal backing plates, they must be replaced. This operation may be carried out with the engine/transmission still in the vehicle. Disconnect the negative cable from the battery. Raise the front of the vehicle and support it securely on jackstands. Support the engine with a jack. Position a wood block between the jack head and the
Oil Pan and raise it enough to take the tension off the mounts. If equipped, remove the metal heat shield over the mount. Remove the engine mount through-boll. Remove the mount-to-engine bolts and remove the mount. Place the new mount in position. Install the mount-to-engine bolts, lower the engine and install the through-bolt. Tighten all fasteners. Remove the jackstands and lower the vehicle.
