GMC Acadia Ball Joint Parts Questions & Answers

  • Q: How to check the condition of the balljoint for Buick Enclave,Chevrolet Traverse and GMC Acadia?
A: To check the condition of the balljoint, start by raising the front of the vehicle and supporting it securely on jackstands. Apply the parking brake and block the rear wheels to prevent any rolling. Then, use a prybar to test for excessive movement between the balljoint and Steering Knuckle. Additionally, have an assistant move the top of the tire in and out while checking for any excessive movement at the balljoint stud nut. If any excessive movement is detected, further measurement with a dial indicator can be done for confirmation. For the replacement process, begin by loosening the wheel lug nuts, raising the front of the vehicle, and removing the wheel. Remove the Control Arm and drill out the rivets securing the balljoint. Clean the control arm and install the new balljoint using the supplied fasteners. Finally, reassemble the control arm.
