How do you remove the A/C Expansion Valve on Chevrolet Colorado and GMC Canyon?

To remove the air conditioning system, start by discharging the system. Then, remove the two refrigerant lines from the block fitting at the firewall. The expansion valve is part of the metal block that the refrigerant lines attach to at the firewall, so remove the two bolts securing this block to the firewall and remove the block/expansion valve. For installation, reverse the removal steps and replace the expansion valve and block as a unit. Reinstall the refrigerant lines with new seals and tighten the nut securely. Finally, have the system evacuated, recharged, and leak-tested.
