GMC Canyon Release Bearing

The GMC Canyon Release Bearing serves as the vital link between engine power and the gearbox any time the driver presses the clutch pedal to change gears in a smooth manner without grinding. Seated on the clutch housing, this Release Bearing slides along a hollow shaft as the pressure plate spring pushes a fork against it, cutting off the connection and enabling the transmission to select a new ratio. It then recedes as the pedal is lifted to reengage thrust. Over the years, the Canyon has seen two operating styles of Release Bearing, one driven by a cable and the later hydraulically assisted version. While both do the same job, the hydraulic unit uses fluid pressure for self-adjusting travel, whereas the cable type relies on manual adjustment, which can drift and hasten wear if left unchecked. Whichever design your GMC uses, common warning signs of a failing Release Bearing are rattling or growling noises, pedal vibration, stickiness in the clutch, and tough gear engagement, all of which result from worn rollers or lost lubrication. Replacing the unit with a factory-spec Release Bearing of correct thickness allows the Canyon to return to quiet operation and reliable shifting and also prevents collateral damage to other clutch components in your GMC.

Each OEM GMC Canyon Release Bearing we offer is competitively priced and comes with the assurance of the manufacturer's warranty for the part. Furthermore, we guarantee the speedy delivery of your orders right to your doorstep. Our hassle-free return policy is also in place for your peace of mind.

GMC Canyon Release Bearing Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to remove and install Clutch Disc,Pressure Plate and Release Bearing on GMC Canyon?
    A:
The assumption for working on a clutch system is that the engine will remain in place and access to clutch components will be through removal of the transmission. For cases where the engine or transmission has been removed, it is advisable that unless they are new or in nearly perfect condition, replacing the clutch components which are relatively low-cost is recommended because it could be cheaper than accessing them.To start off, the transmission is taken out of the vehicle supporting an engine. Engine hoists or support fixtures can assist, but if one uses a jack beneath an engine, he or she should put a piece of wood between jack and oil pan to distribute load. At that time, leave the clutch release bearing assembly attached to the transmission. As we remove the clutch disc,a clutch alignment tool is put through its hub.The flywheel and pressure plate should be carefully inspected for indexing marks or marked manually for alignment purposes. The pressure plate-to-flywheel bolts are loosened in a criss-cross pattern, and after relieving all spring pressure, remove the bolts, pressure plate, and clutch disc from there. Inspection includes checking for defects and imperfections on the flywheel; inspecting pilot bushing; examining lining of clutch disc for wear/damage; replacing release bearing; evaluating pressure plate for excessive wear, damage or distortion. Light glazing can be removed from pressure plate friction surface using sandpaper or emery cloth. The installation steps involve cleaning up flywheel and pressure plate surfaces with brake system cleaner; positioning clutch disc as well as pressure plate against flywheel; centering cluch disc with an alignmet tool ; tightening gradually pressure plat-to-fly wheel bolts in a crosswise manner; lubricating release bearing face with high temperature grease; finally installing clutch release bearing, transmission and all previously removed components while observing correct torque specifications and bleeding hydraulic system of clutch.
