GMC Sonoma Evaporator

The Evaporator on GMC Sonoma automobiles is part of the A/C system and consists of the condenser, valve, and the evaporator which changes liquid refrigeration into vapor through the process of impressing and evac'ing the vehicle interior. Residing under the hood along the heater core, the evaporator is made of aluminum tubes with fins that resemble those in the condenser; it goes then to the refrigerant and absorbs heat from the air. Furthermore, through the refrigeration cycle the evaporator also takes on the function of a dehumidifier since it also helps to remove moisture from the air. A component that is frequently changed out because of cracks resulting from using or exposure to heat, cold or debris, the A/C Evaporator is essential to maintaining the inside of the car adequately cool while operating.

Each OEM GMC Sonoma Evaporator we offer is competitively priced and comes with the assurance of the manufacturer's warranty for the part. Furthermore, we guarantee the speedy delivery of your orders right to your doorstep. Our hassle-free return policy is also in place for your peace of mind.

GMC Sonoma Evaporator Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to remove the air conditioning Evaporator on GMC Sonoma?
A: Begin by emptying the air conditioning system and taking off the negative battery cable. Take off the air conditioning lines that link into the heater and evaporator unit on the passenger side of the firewall, while letting all liquids drain from the cooling system. The accumulator with a hose attaches to the evaporator outlet tube for engines with four cylinders, while the accumulator connects directly to the evaporator in V6 engines. Take off the wiring connector under the blower motor resistor, then pull on the large wiring bundle holder from the mounting stud at the upper housing corner. Lift out the coolant recovery tank, disconnect the relay mountings, loosen the nuts that anchor the housing, and remove the housing itself. Carefully unhook the bolts that attach the housing to the firewall, then push forward on the housing to break the strong sticky seal created by the gasket before lifting the housing off. To access the condenser core, remove the housing's upper and lower parts by taking off the clips and screws, then get rid of the condenser, and check for leaks, fixing any bent fins while you're at it. When you put in a fresh evaporator core, keep and move all sealing gaskets from the old unit itself. To reinstall the AC system, start by turning the process upside down, filling your cooling system again, and putting new R-134a-ready connectors on all connections. Lubricate them with the proper air-con oil. Put the foam gasket back when you put the housing back on the firewall. Just before having the system checked for leaks and fixes, fill up the new evaporator with 1 ounce of oil.
