GMC Terrain Hood Latch

The Hood Latch of GMC Terrain is one of the important parts located beneath the front part of the hood of the car that is used to lock the hood and it cannot open even in the middle of the road. This is because through the maintenance of the hood being closed, the Hood Latch helps to protect some of the important parts of the car which include; the 'engine', 'radiator', and 'battery'. When encompassing all the generations of GMC Terrain vehicles, it is possible that diverse types and sorts of the Hood Latch mechanisms may have been included, which could have their specific characteristics and purposes mainly aimed at securing the hood pointlessly and sufficiently.

Each OEM GMC Terrain Hood Latch we offer is competitively priced and comes with the assurance of the manufacturer's warranty for the part. Furthermore, we guarantee the speedy delivery of your orders right to your doorstep. Our hassle-free return policy is also in place for your peace of mind.

GMC Terrain Hood Latch Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How often should the Door Hinge, Door Latch Assembly, Hood Latch, Liftgate Hinge and Trunk Latch be lubricated on GMC Terrain?
A: After every 3000 miles or at least once in three months, you should add some light oil or lock lubricant on the hinges and latch assemblies of your doors, hood, trunk or liftgate. To prevent wear and tear and ensure smooth movement, lightly apply grease to the door latch strikers. Use a graphited lubricant spray to grease the locks of car doors as well as trunks (or lift gates).
  • Q: How to remove and install the hood latch and Hood Cable on GMC Terrain?
A: When repairing 2010 and later models, before installing the hood latch, use a marker to draw a line around the latch and bolt heads on the open hood to guide exact placement later. Unplug the power cables from the hood latch area by using a long Phillips head screwdriver or trim tool. Firstly, remove the fastener holding the cable to the hood latch opening, and then pull out the cable's electrical connection from behind the radiator support. Gently pry off the bolts holding the hood latch to its spot on top of the radiator support, then remove the latch. Pull the latching wire off the handle by pulling it loose there. To install, just put everything back the way it came out. To fix the Hood Cable inside the vehicle, pull it from the holder, slide it out of the handle. Remove the Hood Cable from its connection point with the latch; peel off the retaining clips from both the radiator support and inside edge of the fenderwell; remember that to reach these clips you'll need to take off the front Bumper cover; pictured below, for information. Installation is again the reverse of removal.
