How to disconnect the cable from the negative terminal of the battery and remove the steering column covers on GMC Terrain?

Disconnect the cable from the car battery's negative side, take out the screws holding the lower cover's bottom end, lift the upper cover until it detaches from the lower panel. While steering in the most extended position, turn the wheel until you can see the front-facing screws. Loosen them up. Take off the covers, and putting the components back in place goes the same way.
