How to replace a thermostat in a cooling system for Chevrolet Equinox and GMC Terrain?

Before assuming the thermostat is the problem, check the coolant level, the drive belt tension, and the temperature gauge. For a 3.4L V6 engine, the top engine cover needs to be removed as well as the battery and battery tray. The exhaust crossover pipe should be removed, and then the thermostat housing bolts can be unscrewed to detach it.
