Raise the rear of the vehicle and support it with jack stands placed under the frame rails, then place an adjustable jack under the axle housing. Disconnect the brake lines, shock absorbers, and upper control arms at the axle housing. Carefully note the position of the spring, then slowly lower the rear axle assembly with the jack and remove the springs. For installation, position the coil spring as it was during removal, raise the rear axle assembly, and install the components in the reverse order of removal, ensuring all fasteners are torque-tightened.
