Pontiac Grand Prix A/C Switch

The Pontiac Grand Prix A/C Switch allows drivers to command cabin temperature with the press of a button or turning of a knob. It serves as the on-off gateway for the entire climate system. Sitting on the dash panel next to the climate control module, the A/C Switch is responsible for sending the signal to wake up relays, blower motor regulators, and the compressor to only allow cool or warm air to flow when it is desired, saving fuel and preventing blasts at the wrong time. Early Grand Prix models featured a simple toggle or push button A/C Switch with three or four fixed fan speeds, whereas later Pontiac models came with a refined layout, combining the A/C Switch with an automatic temperature control array, where digital buttons work with a power module to provide limitless blower settings.     Q: How to Remove and Install the A/C Switch on Pontiac Grand Prix?
    A:
    Disconnect the cable from the negative terminal of the battery. Caution: On models equipped with the Theftlock audio system, be sure the lockout feature is turned off before performing any procedure which requires disconnecting the battery. Remove the trim plates from the dash. If equipped, pull the control knobs off the face of the A/C Switch assembly. Remove the screws on each side of the A/C Switch assembly. Disconnect the electrical connectors at the rear of the A/C Switch assembly. Installation is the reverse of removal.
