To remove the window regulator, start by disconnecting the negative cable at the battery, ensuring the Theft-lock audio system's lockout feature is off if applicable. For manual window glass regulator models, press the bearing plate and door trim panel inward to remove the handle by pulling off the spring clip with a hooked wire, although a special tool is optional. With the window glass fully raised, take off the door trim panel and water shield. Secure the window glass in the up position using strong adhesive tape wrapped over the door frame, placing a rag over the top to protect the weatherstrip. Punch out the center pins of the rivets securing the window regulator and drill them out with a 1/4-inch drill bit if necessary. For power window models, unplug the electrical connector, then remove the retaining bolts and disengage the regulator from the sash channel before lifting it out of the door. For installation, position the regulator in the door and engage it in the sash channel, securing it with 3/16-inch rivets using a rivet tool if required. Install and tighten the bolts securely, plug in the electrical connector if applicable, and finally, reinstall the water shield, door trim panel, and window regulator handle before reconnecting the negative battery cable.
