Pontiac Torrent Camshaft Position Sensor

The Pontiac Torrent Camshaft Position Sensor supplies the engine control module with real time data on the camshaft's speed and angle, letting the computer fire injectors and spark at the ideal instant. Mounted just above the camshaft or tucked near the cylinder head on various model years, this Camshaft Position Sensor works alongside the crank sensor so the four stroke cycle stays in perfect sync from the first key turn. Because the Camshaft Position Sensor and crank sensor operate as a team, the Camshaft Position Sensor gives the ECM a clear picture of piston to valve timing and can fine tune fuel delivery and ignition advance, keeping idle smooth and mileage strong. Early versions on later Torrent builds relied on magnetic pickups that create a small alternating current whenever a cam lobe passes, while newer hall effect units switch a digital signal on and off for sharper accuracy at low RPM, making this the main difference between the two styles. Whichever style your Pontiac SUV carries, a worn Camshaft Position Sensor can cause hard starts, misfires, or sudden cutouts, so attentive upkeep remains essential for any Torrent owner who wants lasting performance from their Pontiac.

Each OEM Pontiac Torrent Camshaft Position Sensor we offer is competitively priced and comes with the assurance of the manufacturer's warranty for the part. Furthermore, we guarantee the speedy delivery of your orders right to your doorstep. Our hassle-free return policy is also in place for your peace of mind.

Pontiac Torrent Camshaft Position Sensor Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to remove and install camshaft position sensors on Pontiac Torrent?
    A:
To remove the camshaft position sensor 3.0L and 3.6L V6 engines have four camshaft sensors. If replacing the CMP sensor on the right side, remove the air filter housing. For the left side replacement on 2013 and later 3.6L models, remove the front engine mount. Installation is the reverse of removal. The 2.4L four-cylinder engine has two camshaft sensors, the intake camshaft position sensor located below the fuel pump, and the exhaust camshaft sensor located at the corner of the cylinder head above the exhaust manifold. To remove the intake camshaft position sensor, remove the fuel pump cover, disconnect the electrical connector, and remove the mounting bolt and the sensor from the cylinder head.
