- Q: How do you remove the accelerator cable?A: To remove the throttle cable, start by turning the ignition key to OFF and disconnecting the cable from the throttle cam. Then, disengage the cable from the cable bracket and trace it back to the firewall, removing it from any clips or cable guides. Inside the passenger compartment, disengage the lower end of the cable from the accelerator pedal and remove it from the grommet on the firewall. To install the cable, simply reverse the removal steps. It is important to have an assistant depress and release the accelerator pedal while verifying that the throttle valve moves smoothly and easily from the fully closed to the fully open position and back again.
