Saturn Ion Wheel Seal

The Saturn Ion Wheel Seal keeps important grease locked in the hub bearing while keeping dirt, stones, and water out. This allows the compact sedan to roll without a hitch. It functions by employing a tight lip that pushes against the housing of the bearing, creating a barrier so lubricants don't escape while contaminants don't get in, which prevents excessive heating that could cause hardening and failure of the seal. Due to the design of the Wheel Seal, these seals must be visually inspected regularly for cracks, peeling, bulges, or to see if they have split open. Because once a Wheel Seal goes, the grease escapes, and the bearing quickly overheats. The Saturn only required one proven Wheel Seal design across production, not multiple styles. That was because the Ion model line never changed the core task of sealing lubricant and protecting the bearing. As a result, it was not necessary for owners to concern themselves with variations, only condition. Proper lubrication of each Wheel Seal allows the bearing to perform its designed lifespan while also contributing to the precise steering feel many Ion drivers enjoy. An excess noise or visible grease alert will require changing your Wheel Seal to maintain the original tightness designed by Saturn engineers.

Each OEM Saturn Ion Wheel Seal we offer is competitively priced and comes with the assurance of the manufacturer's warranty for the part. Furthermore, we guarantee the speedy delivery of your orders right to your doorstep. Our hassle-free return policy is also in place for your peace of mind.

Saturn Ion Wheel Seal Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to replace wheel seals in Automatic transaxle on Saturn ION?
    A:
Wheel leaks frequently occur due to wear of the wheel seals. Replacement of these seals is relatively easy since the repairs can be performed without removing the transaxle from the vehicle. The wheel seals are located on the sides of the transaxle, where the driveaxles are attached. If leakage at the seal is suspected, raise the vehicle and support it securely on jackstands. If the seal is leaking, fluid will be found on the sides of the transaxle. To remove the left-side seal, remove the snap-ring on the stub shaft and use a screwdriver or seal removal tool to carefully pry the wheel seal out of the transaxle bore. Measure the distance that the stub axle protrudes beyond the sleeve and remove the sleeve from the stub shaft using a special puller. Compare the old seal to the new one to ensure it's the correct one. For installation, coat the new seal with transmission fluid and use a seal installation tool to drive it into the bore. Use a special tool to press the new sleeve onto the stub shaft and install a new snap-ring on the stub shaft before installing the driveaxle.
