If a problem develops, a determination must first be made as to whether the problem is electrical, mechanical, or hydraulic in order for repair work to be considered. The identification of the transaxle requires expertise of how the transaxle works and is constructed; equally important is the availability of suitable diagnostic tools; this means that any difficulties with the automatic transaxle must be done by a dealer service department or a qualified service station. However, a faulty transaxle must not be pulled out before a car with the problem has been examined by a professional mechanic who has the appropriate instruments and has sufficient understandings, since testing always has to be carried out with the transaxle still attached to the car.
