To remove the upper trailing arm on all models, loosen the wheel lug nuts, raise the vehicle, and secure it with jackstands. Remove the wheel and detach the ABS wheel speed sensor harness clips from the trailing arm. Support the lower control arm with a floor jack, then remove the upper trailing arm-to-knuckle nut and bolt. For models with RPO GNE rear suspension, scribe an alignment mark on the upper trailing arm adjuster cam to the subframe before removing the nut and cam. Remove the pivot bolt as well. On models with RPO GNC rear suspension, remove the upper trailing arm inner pivot bolt. After removal, install the upper trailing arm following the reverse procedure. Raise the lower control arm to simulate normal ride height and tighten the fasteners to their torque specifications. For RPO GNC rear suspension, obtain new upper trailing arm fasteners during installation. Install the wheel and lug nuts, lower the vehicle, and tighten the lug nuts to the specified torque. Have the wheel alignment checked and adjusted if necessary.To remove the lower trailing arm, begin by removing the coil spring. For models with RPO GNE rear suspension, remove the shock absorber lower mounting bolt, while for RPO GNC rear suspension, mark the adjuster cam's position to the subframe. Proceed by removing the trailing arm-to-subframe pivot bolts and detaching the arm from the subframe. During installation, raise the outer end of the trailing arm with a floor jack to simulate normal ride height and tighten the fasteners to their torque specifications. Install the wheel and lug nuts, lower the vehicle, and tighten the lug nuts to the specified torque.For models with RPO GNC rear suspension, to remove the trailing arm, detach the ABS wheel speed sensor harness from the arm, and remove the trailing arm-to-knuckle bolts. Remove the trailing arm bracket-to-body bolts and remove the arm. If the bushing needs replacement, seek an automotive machine shop or repair facility to press out the old bushing and install the new one.To remove the adjuster link, scribe an alignment mark on the adjuster link adjuster cam to the subframe. Remove the adjuster link-to-knuckle nut and hold the adjuster cam bolt with a wrench to prevent it from turning. Unscrew the nut, remove the cam and pivot bolt, and take off the adjuster link from the knuckle and subframe. During installation, use new fasteners raise the outer end of the control arm with a floor jack to simulate normal ride height, and tighten the fasteners to their torque specifications.For models with RPO GNE rear suspension, to remove the upper control arm-to-lower control arm link, support the lower control arm with a floor jack, remove the upper control arm-to-knuckle bolt, and discard the bolt for a new one. Remove the lower link-to-knuckle bolt and detach the link. During installation, raise the outer end of the control arm with a floor jack to simulate normal ride height, and tighten the fasteners to their torque specifications. Install the wheel and lug nuts, lower the vehicle, and tighten the lug nuts to the specified torque. Have the wheel alignment checked and adjusted if necessary.
