Q:
How do you remove a bulb from a headlight housing on Chevrolet Colorado and GMC Canyon? Posted by Customer
A:
To remove the bulb, start by opening the hood to access the bulb from behind the headlight housings. In some cases, you may need to remove the radiator grille to gain access. Once you have access, twist the bulb holder counterclockwise and remove it along with the connector from the housing. Disconnect the connector from the bulb holder. To install a new bulb, handle it only by the bulb holder portion and reconnect the electrical connector. Insert the new bulb/holder into the housing and twist it clockwise to lock it in place. The installation process is the reverse of the removal procedure.

On ION models, remove the headlight housing by pulling it out and then remove the round dust caps over the bulb sockets. Disconnect the electrical connector from the headlight bulb and rotate the lock-ring 1/4-turn counterclockwise to remove the bulb from the headlight assembly. To install the new bulb, align the notches on the headlight bulb flange with the tabs in the housing. The installation process is otherwise the reverse of removal. For sedan models, remove the inner fender liner and disconnect the electrical connector to the bulbs. Twist the headlight bulb counterclockwise, pull it out, and replace it. The installation process is the reverse of removal.
