The front blower motor is responsible for forcing air through the ducts for heating and air conditioning in the front unit of the vehicle. It is located on the passenger side of the engine compartment on the firewall. To remove the front blower motor, start by raising the hood and disconnecting the cable from the negative terminal of the battery. Then, remove the windshield washer fluid and coolant overflow reservoirs. For 1996 and later models, there is an acoustic cover over the blower motor that needs to be removed by unscrewing the two screws and cutting it between the clip lands. Disconnect the electrical connections and cooling tube from the blower motor, and remove the mounting bolts securing it. Withdraw the blower motor from the HVAC unit and remove it from the vehicle. In some models, the fan must be removed from the motor before it can be taken out of the vehicle. The installation process is the reverse of the removal process. For the rear auxiliary blower motor, start by disconnecting the cable from the negative terminal of the battery. Remove the auxiliary heater cover to expose the blower motor, and disconnect the electrical connections. Remove the mounting bolts securing the blower motor and withdraw it from the auxiliary heater/air conditioning unit. The installation process is the reverse of the removal process.
