Q:
How to remove and install the oil pump on 2.2L four cylinder engine on Chevrolet Blazer,S10,GMC Jimmy and Sonoma? Posted by Customer
A:
Removal and installation of the oil pump begins with the removal of the oil pan. Next, remove the oil pump mounting bolt from the main bearing cap. Detach the oil pump and pick-up assembly from the block. If the pump is defective, replace it with a new one. If the engine is being completely overhauled, install a new oil pump-don't reuse the original or attempt to rebuild it. Check the oil pump pickup tube for looseness where it is pressed into the pump body. If it is loose it could cause engine oiling problems. Don't "fix" a loose one, replace the complete pump assembly. To install the pump, turn the shaft so the gear tang mates with the slot on the lower end of the oil pump driveshaft. The oil pump should slide easily into place over the oil pump driveshaft lower retainer. If it doesn't, pull it off and turn the tang until it's aligned with the pump driveshaft slot. Install the pump mounting bolt and tighten it. Reinstall the oil pan. Add oil, run the engine and check for leaks.

Q:
How do you remove the oil pan and oil pump for Chevrolet C1500 and K1500? Posted by Customer
A:
Remove the oil pan. While supporting the oil pump, remove the pump-to-rear main bearing cap bolt. This is the single bolt holding the oil pump to the rear main cap. After removing the bolt, remove the oil pump. Lower the pump and remove it along with the pump driveshaft. Note that on most models a hard nylon sleeve is used to align the oil pump driveshaft and the oil pump shaft. Ensure this sleeve is in place on the oil pump driveshaft. If it is not there, check the oil pan for the pieces of the sleeve, clean them out of the pan, then get a new sleeve for the oil pump driveshaft. Check the screen and the pickup tube for any damage or looseness. It must fit very tight onto the oil pump. If a new oil pump is installed, make sure the pump driveshaft is mated with the shaft inside the pump. Position the pump on the engine and make sure the slot in the upper end of the driveshaft is aligned with the tang on the lower end of the distributor shaft. The distributor drives the oil pump, so it is absolutely essential that the components mate properly. Install the mounting bolt and tighten it to the specified torque. Finally, install the oil pan.

Q:
How to remove the oil pan and oil pump on 4.3L V6 engine on Chevrolet Blazer,S10,GMC Jimmy and Sonoma? Posted by Customer
A:
Remove the oil pan. While supporting the oil pump, remove the pump-to-rear main bearing cap bolt. On some models, the oil pan baffle must be removed first, since it's also held in place by the pump mounting bolt. Lower the pump and remove it along with the pump driveshaft. Install the mounting bolt and tighten it. Install the oil pan and refill with fresh oil. The remainder of assembly is the reverse of the disassembly procedures.

Q:
How to remove and install an oil pump on 4.3L V6 engine for Chevrolet Avalanche,Silverado,Suburban,Tahoe,GMC Sierra,Yukon,Yukon Denali and Yukon XL? Posted by Customer
A:
Remove the oil pan. While supporting the oil pump, remove the pump-to-rear main bearing cap bolt. Lower the pump and remove it along with the pump driveshaft. If a new oil pump is installed, make sure the pump driveshaft is mated with the shaft inside the pump and a new driveshaft retainer is used. Position the pump over the dowel pins on the rear main cap and make sure the slot in the upper end of the driveshaft is aligned with the tang on the lower end of the oil pump driveshaft. The oil pump driveshaft drives the oil pump, so it is absolutely essential that the components mate properly. Also, note that no gasket is used between the oil pump and the rear main cap. Install the mounting bolt and tighten it to the torque specifications. Install the oil pan and refill the engine with fresh oil. The remainder of assembly is the reverse of the disassembly procedures.
