Begin with the oil control ring, comprising three components, inserting them one at a time, starting with the spacer/expander and ensuring proper orientation if an anti-rotation tang is present. Install the side rails without using a piston ring installation tool, making sure they can turn smoothly in the ring groove. Then, proceed to install the number two (middle) ring, ensuring the mark faces upward, and use a piston ring installation tool. Finally, install the number one (top) ring in the same manner, ensuring the mark is correctly oriented, and be cautious not to mix up the top and middle rings during the process. Repeat these steps for all remaining pistons and rings.
