    Q:
Where is the fuel filter located on Buick Regal? Posted by Customer
    A:
The fuel filter is behind the fuel inlet on the carburetor. Next, disconnect the fuel line from the filter nut, remove the nut, and the filter and spring. For fuel-injected engines, the filters are on the frame rails or rear cross member. Then, depressurize the fuel system, disconnect the battery cable, and remove the filter and O-rings.

    Q:
How to replace the fuel filter on Chevrolet Caprice? Posted by Customer
    A:
GM cars have the fuel filter located inside the fuel inlet to the carburetor. The material used to make these filters consists of pleated paper or bronze depending on the model. After they are dirty, they can't be cleaned and used again. Do it when the engine is cold, using open-end wrenches for fuel line nuts, a new filter, and clean rags. To do this, the air cleaner assembly should be removed and then follow the fuel hose from the pump to the carburetor. In order to avoid spilling any fuel when disconnecting fittings at fuel inlets rags should be placed beneath them. After this, one should remove the gas from line and unscrew the gas inlet filter nut. Take off old filter and compare with new one, put on new one; fix it in place by means of a washer-type gasket on a gas inlet filter nut that has been tightened into a carburetor. Turn on engine if there are no leaks then reconnect fuel line to check for leaks at joint. If there are any leaks found during testing, then check if threads are stripped or damaged in case of which its necessary to disconnect a fuel line connector. The connector threads may need wrapping in thread sealing tape where needed. In conclusion, reinstall air cleaner assembly again.

Then, disconnect the negative battery cable and remove the filter attaching nut at both ends of the filter assembly. Pull the filter out of the bracket and remove the sealing O-rings. Install the new filter into the bracket, using new O-rings for the fuel line connections. Tighten the connections and reconnect the negative battery cable.
