    Q:
How to remove and install the oil pump assembly and oil pan in V8 engine on Chevrolet Caprice? Posted by Customer
    A:
Remove the oil pan and the bolts securing the oil pump assembly to the rear main bearing cap, then take out the oil pump along with its pickup tube and screen as a single unit from the engine block. For installation, position the pump assembly and align the slot on the top end of the extension shaft with the drive tang on the lower end of the distributor, ensuring proper mating between these components since the distributor drives the oil pump. Secure the assembly with bolts and torque-tighten them to specifications. Ensure the oil pump screen is parallel with the oil pan rails for proper fitting into the oil pan, then install the oil pan, paying close attention to the oil pressure gauge or warning light during the initial engine start-up period.

    Q:
How to remove the oil pan and oil pump on Chevrolet K1500? Posted by Customer
    A:
Take out the oil pan. Remove the pump-to-rear main bearing cap bolt while supporting the oil pump. There is a single bolt that holds the oil pump to the rear main cap. Take out the bolt, then take out the oil pump. Drop it down and remove with the pump driveshaft. For almost all models, an oil pump driveshaft aligns with an oil pump shaft using a rigidly-hard nylon sleeve. Put this sleeve on the oil pump driveshaft. If it is not there, look for its pieces in the oil pan, take them out from there and get a new one for use on an oil-pump driveshaft. Examine whether or not damage or looseness exist in both the screen and pickup tube too much of which can make them fit tightly at all to the oil-pump itself . In case you have a new one, please ensure that this item has been connected to a relevant place within an engine . Place it over an engine and ensure that upper slot of drive shaft fits into lower tang of distributor shaft . The distributor drives the oil pump; therefore, good mating is important between these components. Fasten a mounting bolt and tighten it until it reaches required torque. Lastly mount your pan back onto your engine.

    Q:
How to remove and install the oil pump and screen assembly in four cylinder engine on Pontiac Firebird? Posted by Customer
    A:
Remove the oil pan, then take out the two oil pump flange mounting bolts and the nut from the main bearing cap bolt, along with the pick-up tube bracket nut and the oil pump flange mounting bolts. Lift out the oil pump and screen as an assembly. For installation, align the shaft to mate with the oil pump driveshaft tang, then place the pump on the block over the oil pump driveshaft lower bushing without using a gasket. The oil pump should slide easily into position; if it does not, remove it and adjust the slot. Finally, install the mounting bolts and nut, tightening them to the specified torque, and reinstall the oil pan.

    Q:
How to remove and install the oil pump in V6 engine on Pontiac Firebird? Posted by Customer
    A:
Take out the oil pan and, after that, the pump-to-rear main bearing cap bolt will have to be removed in order to remove the pump together with the extension shaft from the engine. In order to mount the pump, it has to be placed and oriented with the top end of the hexagonal extension shaft in line with the hexagonal socket in the bottom of the distributor drive gear since the distributor drives the oil pump. Then torque the oil pump-to-rear main bearing cap bolt to pitch before replacing the oil pan on the block.
