How to remove and install the CMP sensor on Chevrolet Avalanche,Silverado,Suburban,Tahoe,GMC Sierra,Yukon,Yukon Denali and Yukon XL? Posted by Customer
A:
Disconnect the CMP sensor electrical connector for V6 model removal. Remove the water pump. Remove the CMP sensor retaining bolt and remove the CMP sensor. Remove and discard the old CMP sensor o-ring. Installation is the reverse of removal. Be sure to use a new o-ring, lubricate it with a film of clean engine oil, and tighten the CMP sensor bolt securely. For V8 model removal, raise the front of the vehicle and place it securely on jackstands. Disconnect the CMP sensor harness electrical connector and remove the sensor harness bolt. Remove the mounting bolt and remove the CMP sensor. Remove the CMP sensor o-ring and inspect it for cracks, tears, and deterioration. If the o-ring is still in good shape you can reuse it. If not, replace it. Install the o-ring and lubricate it with clean engine oil. Installation is the reverse of removal. Be sure to tighten the mounting bolts securely.
