- Q:How to remove and install a Park/Neutral Position switch? Posted by Customer
- A:Disconnect the cable from the negative battery terminal. Remove the air filter housing. Unplug the electrical connector for the Neutral Safety Switch. Detach the shift cable and remove the lever from the transaxle. If necessary, remove the fuel line and bracket. Unscrew the switch retaining bolts and remove the switch. Installation is the reverse of removal. Be sure to adjust the switch before tightening the mounting bolts. Place the shift lever in the Neutral position. With the switch retaining bolts installed loosely, insert the tang on the switch assembly into the slot on the shift lever shaft. Insert a 3/32-inch drill bit into the service adjustment hole and rotate the switch assembly until the drill bit drops into the carrier tang hole. Tighten the switch retaining bolts securely. Verify that the shifter operates correctly and the transaxle end of the cable functions in the range which corresponds to each position of the shift lever.Posted by GMPartsGiant Specialist
