Engine mountage does not need much service but in case of damage the mounts should be replaced as often as possible so as not to harm the parts of the car's power train. In the check the engine needs to be lifted slightly so that the weight is taken off the mounts. Start by lifting the vehicle and placing it on jack stands before placing a jack under the engine oil sump and then placing a large wooden beam between the jack head and the oil sump to lift the engine very lightly such that pressure is taken off the mounting assembly but it is not supporting the weight of the engine entirely. Horse the mounts to observe crack, hardened rubber, or separation from the metal plates as the rubber may be parted down the center. Use a large screwdriver or pry bar and see if the mount plates move with the engine or subframe; If they do, check the tightness of the mount fasteners as damaged mounts can be identified by the fact that when the mount is prised apart or under load, the engine moves easily. For that, remove the cable from the negative battery terminal, then, to remove the engine mount to mount bracket, there will be a nut at the top. Loosen the engine mount to subframe nut from under the car again and raise the vehicle once more on jackstands and then tighten it. Place a floor jack with a block of wood under the oil pan and lift the engine only to the extent that the mount can be unbolted. Reinstallation is done in the reverse order as removal with all fasteners being tightened to the right torque.
