Disengage the clutch cable from the clutch release lever at the transaxle, ensuring you do not allow the cable to snap toward the rear of the car when disconnected as this can damage the quadrant in the self-adjusting mechanism. Next, disengage the clutch cable from the quadrant attached to the clutch pedal by lifting the locking pawl away from the quadrant, then sliding the cable out on the right side. After this, return to the engine compartment and remove the two upper nuts that secure the cable retainer to the upper mounting stuns of the clutch cable bracket, located on the firewall. Disconnect the cable from the bracket mounted on the transaxle and remove the cable. Install the gasket on the 2 upper mounting studs of the clutch cable bracket and insert the new cable through the firewall and bracket, until the cable retaining flange is against the gasket. Attach the cable to the quadrant, ensuring to route the cable underneath the pawl. Mount the 2 upper nuts to the retainer mounting studs and torque them to specs. Attach the cable to the bracket mounted to the transaxle. Finally, attach the cable to the clutch release lever, being careful not to yank on the cable as this could damage the step on the quadrant.
