To remove the speedometer cable, first remove the instrument cluster and slide the cable out from the casing. If the cable is broken, unscrew the casing from the transmission and remove the broken piece. Before installing a new cable, spin it between your fingers in the direction of normal rotation to check for any sticking or binding. Inspect the casing for any cracks, kinks, or breaks, and if necessary, replace it. Slide the new cable into the casing, engaging the transmission end securely, or unscrew the casing at the transmission end, install the cable into the transmission fitting, and screw the casing back into place. Finally, install the instrument cluster.

A:
To replace a speedometer cable, start by disconnecting the negative battery cable. Then, reach under the dashboard and disconnect the speedometer cable casing from the speedometer head by pressing the retaining spring clip and pulling back on the casing. Remove the dash panel sealing plug from the casing and use pliers to pull out the old core. If the inner cable is broken, remove the lower piece from under the vehicle. Lubricate the new speedometer cable core with special lubricant and push it into the casing, ensuring it is fully engaged in the pinion gear inside the transmission. Reinstall the dash sealing plug and connect the casing to the instrument cluster. Finally, road test the vehicle to check for proper speedometer operation.
