Q:
How to remove the instrument panel on Chevrolet Avalanche,Silverado,Suburban,Tahoe,GMC Sierra,Yukon,Yukon Denali and Yukon XL? Posted by Customer
A:
To remove the instrument cluster, first turn the front wheels to the straight-ahead position and secure the steering column with the ignition lock. Disconnect the cable from the negative battery terminal and wait at least two minutes to allow the airbag system back-up power supply to become depleted. Remove the front seats, center console (if equipped), knee bolster, and detach the shift cable from the steering column. Disconnect the steering shaft from the intermediate shaft and remove the door sill trim, kick panels, front pillar trim, and top trim panel. Pull the trim panels away from the instrument cluster center support bracket and remove the bracket (if equipped). Disconnect the electrical connectors on both sides of the instrument cluster to allow it to be moved away from the firewall. Remove the upper mounting bolts for the instrument cluster and with the help of an assistant, remove the instrument cluster mounting bolts on the right side and have the assistant hold it forward. Loosen the instrument cluster mounting bolts on the left side and with your assistant's help, slowly and carefully pivot the right side of the instrument cluster away from the firewall. Support the instrument cluster with a jack stand or equivalent. To install, reverse the removal steps and be sure to reconnect all electrical connectors and secure their wiring harnesses.
