- A:To remove the intake manifold, begin by disconnecting the cable from the negative terminal of the battery. Drain the coolant and remove the ignition coil and EVAP canister tube. Disconnect the heater hoses, throttle body wiring, and various electrical connectors. Remove the PCV valve hose, power brake booster hose, and radiator hose. Take off the water pump intake hose and drivebelt. Loosen and remove the power steering pump bracket nut and bolts. Slide the power steering pump bracket forward to access the bolt at the front of the intake manifold. Loosen the intake lower manifold mounting bolts and pry up the manifold to break the gasket seal. Finally, remove the intake manifold, ensuring that nothing is still attached. For installation, clean the mating surfaces and tap the threads in the bolt holes. Apply RTV sealant to the front and rear manifold mating surfaces and a thin coat around the coolant passage holes on the cylinder head side of the new intake manifold gaskets. Position the gaskets correctly and set the manifold in place while the sealant is still wet. Install and tighten the bolts following the recommended sequence. Complete the remaining steps in reverse order, refill the cooling system, and check for leaks at the intake manifold joints.Posted by GMPartsGiant Specialist
