Q:
What is the recommendation for replacing the TP sensor on Chevrolet Corvette? Posted by Customer
A:
On 2007 and earlier models, the TP sensor is an integral component of the electronic throttle body, and is not separately serviceable. If you need to replace the TP sensor, you must replace the throttle body. On 2008 and later models, the TP sensor/cover is replaceable, but it is not recommended. If the intermediate gear is chipped, the TP terminal connector is loose, or the throttle body or TP sensor is dropped or misaligned, the throttle body assembly must be replaced.

Q:
What is the Throttle Position Sensor (TPS) and how does it work for Chevrolet Colorado and GMC Canyon? Posted by Customer
A:
The Throttle Position Sensor (TPS) is a variable potentiometer connected to the end of the throttle shaft inside the throttle body. By monitoring the output voltage from the TPS, the PCM can determine fuel delivery based on throttle valve angle. The TPS sensor works with the Throttle Actuator Control system (TAC) and the Accelerator Pedal Position (APP) sensor. The latter is actually two sensors in one housing. When there is a difference between the actual throttle position and the position sensed by the TPS, codes are set. The Throttle Position Sensor is part of the throttle body and must be replaced as a unit.

Q:
How to remove and install a TP sensor on a throttle body for Chevrolet Express? Posted by Customer
A:
Disconnect the cable from the negative battery terminal.Remove the engine cover.Remove the air intake duct.Disconnect the electrical connector from the TP sensor.Remove the TP sensor mounting screws and remove the TP sensor from the throttle body. When installing the TP sensor on the throttle body, align the sensor so that the flat surface on the inside of the TP sensor rotating ring is aligned with the flat surface on the throttle shaft. If the sensor fits flush against the throttle body, then you've installed the sensor correctly. If the sensor doesn't fit flush against the throttle body, then the locating flats on the inside of the rotating ring and the end of the throttle shaft are not correctly aligned. Pull off the sensor, align the flats and try installing it again.Installation is otherwise the reverse of removal. Be sure to tighten the TP sensor mounting screws securely.Remove the air intake duct.Disconnect the electrical connector from the TP sensor.Remove the TP sensor mounting screws. When installing the TP sensor on the throttle body, align the sensor so that the flat surface on the inside of the TP sensor rotating ring is aligned with the flat surface on the throttle shaft.
