- Q:How do you remove and replace the antenna on Chevrolet Equinox and GMC Terrain? Posted by Customer
- A:For 2009 and earlier models, use a small open-end wrench to unscrew the antenna mast. Be careful to avoid scratching the body, using masking tape around the base of the antenna can help prevent this. If the antenna base/cable assembly needs to be replaced, remove the glove compartment and detach the lower rear portion of the inner fender liner. Disconnect the antenna mast cable from the radio cable where they join in a connector under the far right end of the instrument panel. Attach a fish wire to the end of the cable and pass the cable and grommet through the hole in the cowl into the fender opening. Remove the antenna mast base mounting nut and pull out the base and its cable. Attach the new cable to the fish wire and pull the wire back slowly and carefully into the body, routing it as the original cable had been. If the extension cable needs to be replaced, remove the glove compartment and the passenger's airbag module. Release the cable from the clips along the top of the instrument panel and disconnect it from the radio and antenna base cable. Installation is the reverse of the removal procedure.For 2010 and later models, the antenna base and mast are located on the roof just in front of the liftgate opening. Disconnect the cable from the negative terminal of the battery. Remove the liftgate opening trim panel, then carefully pull the edge of the headliner down enough to access the base mounting bolt and remove the bolt. Pull the antenna base up from the roof and disconnect the electrical connector to the base. Installation is the reverse of removal. To remove the antenna mast, rotate the mast counterclockwise until it can be removed from the antenna base. Installation is the reverse of removal.Posted by GMPartsGiant Specialist
