Q:
How do you remove the upper control arm for the 2016 GMC Terrain? Posted by Customer
A:
To remove the upper control arm, start by loosening the rear wheel lug nuts, raising the rear of the vehicle on jackstands, and removing the rear wheel. Unbolt the trailing arm bracket from the body and mark the position of the cam adjuster on the inner end of the upper control arm. Disconnect the ABS wiring from the upper control arm and support the lower control arm with a floor jack. Remove the through-bolt from each end of the upper control arm pivot and lift out the arm. For installation, loosely install the bolt at each end of the arm, align the adjuster marks, raise the lower control arm to simulate normal ride height, and tighten the fasteners to the specified torque. The remainder of the installation is the reverse of removal, and it's recommended to have the wheel alignment checked and adjusted if necessary.
