How to remove and replace the wheel bearing and oil seal on Chevrolet Nova? Posted by Shyanne S.

Take off the axle shaft and the oil seal off the housing. A bearing puller will be necessary, or a tool that fits behind the bearing may have to be made.Secure a slide hammer in order to remove the bearing from the axle housing Fix a special bearing puller attachment for this job exclusively. Remove bearing pocket debris and drive in new bearing: this is essential to put in the axleshaft bearing as these models require, asOtherwise, without this tool, the bearing cannot be inserted without damaging it, which can be obtained at most auto parts stores. After having installed this new bearing, it is necessary to lubricate it with gear lubricant and check that its tapping goes as far as its recess where the numbers of the bearing must be readable from the outer extremity of the housing. Remove the old oil seal and replace it with the new one and the put the axle shaft back in place.
