- Q:How to disconnect the negative cable at the battery and remove the air conditioning compressor? Posted by Customer
- A:To disconnect the negative cable at the battery, remove the air conditioning drivebelt. Then, disconnect the inlet and outlet hose fittings from the rear of the compressor. If your vehicle has a DA-6 compressor, unplug the clutch coil terminals on the top and the high pressure cutoff switch on the rear of the compressor. For a V5 compressor, unplug the clutch coil terminals on the top and the high side low pressure and high side cut-off switches from the rear of the compressor. Remove the compressor mounting bolts from the compressor bracket, with the pivot and tension adjusting bolts being easier to remove from underneath the vehicle. Lift out the rear end of the compressor first to remove it, or lift it out from the space between the water pump and the firewall. To install a new or rebuilt compressor, simply reverse the removal procedure.Posted by GMPartsGiant Specialist
