- A:To remove the air intake duct, on V8 models, the intake manifold cover must first be removed, followed by disconnecting the PCV fresh air inlet hose and detaching the radiator hose clip. The hose clamp screws at the Mass Air Flow (MAF) sensor and throttle body must then be loosened before lifting the duct straight up to disengage the locator pin from its insulator grommet. To remove the air filter box, the electrical connector from the MAF sensor must be disconnected before grasping the box firmly and pulling it straight up to disengage the two locator pins from their insulator grommets. While the box is out, inspect the rubber mounting grommets and replace any that are cracked, torn, or otherwise damaged.
