- A:The electric rearview mirrors utilize two motors, one for adjusting the glass up and down and another for left-right adjustments. To operate the mirrors, the control switch has a selector portion that sends voltage to either the left or right side mirror. To troubleshoot any issues, start by rolling down the windows and operating the mirror control switch through all functions for both mirrors while listening for the sound of the electric motors running. If the motors can be heard but the mirror glass doesn't move, it indicates a problem with the drive mechanism inside the mirror, which cannot be repaired by the user and requires the replacement of the entire mirror unit. If there is no sound coming from the mirrors and they do not operate, checking the fuses is recommended. If the fuses are fine, the next step is to remove the mirror control switch and check the ground connections. If the mirror still doesn't work, removing the mirror and testing the wires for voltage is necessary. If there is no voltage in each switch position, checking the circuit between the mirror and control switch for opens and shorts is advised.
