- A:To remove the windshield wiper motor, start by prying off the windshield wiper trim caps and removing the retaining nuts and washers. Mark the position of each wiper arm in relation to its shaft, then remove the arms. Next, remove the cowl cover and disconnect the motor's electrical connector. Remove the mounting bolts securing the motor and linkage assembly to the cowl, then lift it out of the area. Pry the linkage off the motor crank arm and remove the actuator arm from the shaft. Finally, remove the motor mounting screws and the motor itself. To install, reverse the removal steps and align the marks made on the actuator arm, motor shaft, wiper arms, and wiper arm shafts. For the rear wiper motor, remove the trim cap and retaining nut from the wiper arm, mark the relationship of the arm to the motor shaft, and remove the arm. Remove the liftgate trim panel and disconnect the motor's electrical connector before removing the mounting fasteners.
